Indicators: Cork, Yarn, Or Foam, Which Is The Best?
Posted by skitch976 on Thursday, May 25 @ 13:32:11 PDT
I just finished reading a nymphing book called "Some Guys Catch All The Fish" and it was a good book. One thing that it brings up is the differences in indicators and which are the best to use. I have been an advocate of yarn for a long time and also the foam indicators. This author talks a lot about cork, but doesn't give any reasons. I imagine a lot of it is down to personal preference, but what have you guys found to be the best, why, and in what situations

Re: Cork, Yarn, Or Foam: Which Is The Best Indicator? by joey on Thursday, May 25 @ 16:39:34 PDT http://www.fliesandfinseast.com | I like to use yarn indicators- I have used all types: pinch on, foam, and cork. I always seem to come back to yarn. It adjusts easy and is very visable. Although I like to use foam indicators when fishing for steelhead because the yarn tends to freeze in the cols weather. I think it is all preferance. try them all. By the way how was that book- I read some of the reviews and what I could gather from it was that people who use indicators miss alot of fish.....whats the deal?

Re: Cork, Yarn, Or Foam: Which Is The Best Indicator? by tonym on Friday, May 26 @ 10:38:52 PDT | | alot of guides where I fish regularly (s fork of the SnakeRiver) have been using tiny balloons in place of other materials. I have found them to be VERY accurate! I have been amazed how easy it is to tell exactly "how its hangin" below the device. This really helps especially in big water where there might be 6-8 feet distance to the first fly. |
