Utah Fly Fishing Tips: Fall Morning's Mournings
Posted by skitch976 on Wednesday, September 13 @ 07:55:52 PDT
I just love the late summer and fall seasons for fishing on the rivers
of Utah. Unfortunately I have come across some difficulty this year.
The only times I have to fish are early mornings until noon, maybe a little later. The problem is that these hours just have not
been productive on any of the rivers that I have been fishing this season. I do not recall the fishing being like this in past years and I am starting to think that I am doing something wrong. Is there anyone out there with advice to help me ease the pain? What can be done? I need some Utah fly fishing tips to beat these fall mornings!

Re: Utah Fly Fishing Tips: Fall Morning's Mournings by jason-c on Wednesday, September 13 @ 08:05:42 PDT http://www.fliesandfinswest.com | | It is not your imagination; fishing has been a bit slow in the morning. I think there are a couple factors at work. First, the evening caddis have been off the hook and the feeding frenzy has lasted well into the night, particularly during the full moon. Second, water temperatures, which are still ideal (low 50'), drop a few degrees in the early morning hours, just enough to turn fat and full fish off the feed and limit insect movements. I have heard of a few people having some success with huge October caddis patterns in the morning hours. You can also try something totally out of the ordinary to spark some interest. Let us know how you make out. |
