Utah Frozen Fly Fishing: Weber And Ogden Rivers
Posted by skitch976 on Thursday, November 30 @ 13:08:51 PST
I haven't really done much fly fishing in winter during the past years and I honestly don't quite know what to throw out there or how much different I should expect the fishing to be. I imagine nymphs are the way to go, but any particular patterns/sizes/setups/colors? Please let me know. I am hoping to get some quick responses. I hope to go this Saturday on the Weber River or Ogden River in Utah. PM's are fine too. Thanks-Jim

Re: Utah Frozen Fly Fishing: Weber And Ogden Rivers by jason-c on Thursday, November 30 @ 14:42:31 PST http://www.fliesandfinswest.com | | I like the balloondicator a lot. I don't fish the bounce rig which is where that idea comes from. However, I do use the balloon indicator. They are inexpensive, durable and very sensitive. Attach them with a Clover Hitch. To remove them you pull the balloon at both ends and it undoes the knot. You want to attach it to heavier tippet otherwise the Clover Hitch won't cinch right. You can check out the "Bounce Rig Video" to see the Clover Hitch. |

Re: Utah Frozen Fly Fishing: Weber And Ogden Rivers by wesfishes on Friday, December 01 @ 14:19:35 PST | | Try Czech nymphing. I'll fish a heavy caddis larva trailed by a blue or black disco midge. Get it right on the bottom and drag the two flies through the deeper holes. Worked great last Sat. on the middle Provo then Sun. on the Weeb |
