Angel's Camp Calaveras County, California: How's The Fly Fishing?
Posted by wesfishes on Monday, December 04 @ 08:25:33 PST
I am Heading to Angel's Camp this coming July, and with the deep freeze in Utah I am trying to research the area. I was wondering where the good spots are and the best way to spend my time while there. Are there trout in the Calaveras River? Rainbows Browns and Cutthroat? How is the access? Is the public access good? I would really appreciate any insight. Thanks

Re: Angel's Camp Calaveras County, California: How's The Fly Fishing? by guido on Wednesday, December 13 @ 18:11:29 PST | Hey Wes!
I live about an hour away from Angels Camp and there are LOTS of places to fish around the area. The Stanislaus river for one has both rainbow and browns. Farther up (about an hour away) is the East fork of the Carson river which has some great fly fishing water. There are lots of small lakes in the sierras which hold 'bows. browns, brookies and cuts. There's also the Mokuolomne, the Calaveras, the Tuolomne, the east and west Walker as well as numerous small little creeks and feeders. Give me call or whatever when you get closer to coming out as I'm always up for a trip. |

I just put a comment on this and it got erased I guess. Anyway, small world. Saw your comment first thing. Sounds like there'll be some action at least within an hour's drive. May have to go farther to get into some steelhead or salmon. Noticed the weather tonight, looks like your gettin pounded by snow again. Love Dad |
