Blue River Colorado: Palomino Trout
Posted by joey on Tuesday, January 02 @ 14:33:00 PST
I was recently in a fly shop in Colorado and there was a few picture of these enormous bright yellow, red and pink trout. I thought that it was a cutthroat trout but then realized that it is much too big. The guy at the shop then informed me that it was a Palomino and they catch them on the Blue river when the water is high enought to float. Much of the river is private so wade fishing and access is
limited. Has anyone ever caught one of these trout?

They actually stock those fish in several of the rivers in PA. I have seen pictures, they are a strange looking trout. They look like they have been beamed into the river from Mars. |

I was fishing to what I thought was about a 20" fat brown. When I landed it I thought it was the most alpino looking cutthrout I had ever seen. Must be what it was...who knew.
