Park City, Utah Winter Fly Patterns: BWO And Midges?
Posted by GK on Monday, January 15 @ 08:56:39 PST
I will be in Park City the last week of February and
would like to fish the Provo River. I have had some
excellent trips there the last few years, except
for last year (last week in January). Any tips
would be appreciated. Any chance the BWO hatch
will be on? How about midges on top? Also, if anyone has tying instructions
for the extended body BWO that worked so well
on a previous trip, I would be grateful.

Re: Park City, Utah Winter Fly Patterns: BWO And Midges? by jason-c on Tuesday, January 16 @ 15:50:24 PST http://www.fliesandfinswest.com | | The fihsing has been excellent here. The recent cold snap may have slowed things a bit but that should not be a factor in February. The midges have been on fire, even on top. By February we should have plenty og midge action and the BWO's may be get started, it depends on the weather. Typically the action starts to really fire up Mid-February. The best bet for the extended bodies is to buy the pre-tied bodies. I like to tie them parachute style. CDC wing BWO's work well too, particularly for picky trout. My go too is the parachute adams. It works well for BWO and when the fish are on the midge. |
