Southern California Fly Fishing: Sespe Creek, The San Gabriel, And More
Posted by WestlakeDave on Tuesday, February 06 @ 16:02:28 PST
Why are there so few articles on Southern California fly fishing? Since I live here, some tips and tactics on local streams would be beneficial. Sespe Creek, San Gabriel Rivers, Upper Kern River, Lower Kings River, and Lower Owens River are all high caliber fisheries. Having witnessed trophy trout taken from the Kern and the Kings, surely some of the writers are aware of these streams.

We would love to hear more about these rivers. When is a good time to go? Where? What are the flows Like? What hatches are there? |

Re: Southern California Fly Fishing: Sespe Creek, The San Gabriel, And More by WestlakeDave on Tuesday, February 06 @ 23:03:18 PST | In reading thru the other threads, the idea of where trout fishing paradise would be and where would you prefer to live came up. Markw3 makes an excellent point (see Re: Park City, Utah Fly Fishing: A Trout Bum Paradise? by markw3 on Wednesday, January 17 @ 10:49:47 PST) about being able to fish 365 days a year.
Since Mark has lived in many of the so called "paradises" (Alaska, Montana, etc) and knows fishing can beome non-existent for at least 3 months every year... it occurs to me California may in fact be a "trout bum's paradise!" We can fact find a quality fishery within a couple of hours drive every day of the year! What do others think? |
