Spring Break: San Juan River, New Mexico Or Colorado?
Posted by the_fiend on Friday, February 09 @ 14:27:13 PST
I am planning on doing some fishing the last week of April for spring break, for a long weekend. I am not really sure where to go. I reside in Colorado and was thinking of going to the San Juan in New Mexico. But I am not sure how it fishes this time of year. So if you have any ideas where to go or any info on the San Juan that would be great.

The South Platte can be excellent in March and April. As I recall, in March and April, If you get some overcast the blue wings should start. The Spinny Mile and the Canyon should fish great either way. Midges always work this time of year. It is within a few hours drive of Denver too. Don't forget about The Big Thompson and The Poudre either. |

I am lucky enough to be able to meet my family for 3 days of fishing there this April, in researching I found ifly4trout.com , its a great site with lots of info on the Juan, check it out. |

This is home water for me as I grew up on this river back in 1968.....
