Buggers And Clousers: Steelie Steamers?
Posted by biggie on Saturday, February 17 @ 21:38:15 PST
I love to swing streams with a down stream cast and work the fly towards me then let it dead drift then work towards me again. This is deadly around home for trout. Love to see a big brown swimming over to have a look or nail a streamer. My question, does this work for steelies using say a Clouser or a marabou streamer? Or even a bugger?

Steelhead get pretty agressive when they are in full spawn. Teasing them with some switches can work well. When they are in that mood I don't like to bother them. However, I find that the majority of the time you want a true swing with as little erratic movement as possible. |

I've taken a few steelhead on a bugger using that technique. You never know until you try, have fun with it, try new things, thats what make fly fishermen, fly fishermen. |
