 Yampa River Colorado: Smallmouth On The Fly?

Anybody know anything about the smallmouth fishing on the Yampa? If I wanted to do a float where would I put in a take out? Any problem with private or is it understood as "navigable"? What of the DOW removal of smallies recently? Is it still good or has it been ruined? Any particular month to fish it? Thinking about doing a Yampa float as part of a Green River run from Denver, CO. Last question - is there a good upper float in the trout section or all private?

by FLYTIMES on Friday, October 26 @ 11:45:11 PDT | | Smallies as well as the northern fishing is pretty well dead for all intensive purposes, DOW shocked most out, true they will never get them all but it is nothing like it once was. Best chance below maybel, try duffy canyon. Can't float it but still fish there due to the accessibilty issue. Best bet for floating the upper is the KOA or Hayden put in. |
