Colorado, South Platte River: Dream Stream Brownies
Posted by flytimes on Monday, October 29 @ 14:16:44 PDT
Has anyone been to the South Platte River in the area of the "dream stream" within the past week or so? Are the brownies still there or have they moved through already? More importantly is there a million people there? Any information would be great.

Re: Colorado, South Platte River: Dream Stream Brownies by FLYTIMES on Thursday, November 08 @ 10:12:33 PST | | To answer my own question for anyone who might venture down there. The run is about over but I think there will be one more nice surge of bigger fish. If you intend to visit, go small stay small. We were raising fish consistantly with sizes 20-24 dry flies, mostly midges, and a few bwo's. The big fish are smart they have been hooked before so be ready for all the tricks, head shakes, huge runs, areial, everything! I fished mainly my 5wt for the challenge but recommend a 6wt the fish are big and strong and the wind never stops blowing. If you go and miss the brownies don't worry the river has an ample amount of nice resident fish. Tight lines and fly times my friends. |
